Our commitment to a healthy ecosystem has a long tradition. As we have always been aware of our responsibility for the environment, we are striving daily to reconcile economy and ecology. We keep looking for new solutions and lead by example.

Green Roofs

Starting in 2001 we have planted all of our suitable roof surfaces. Today, more than 1,500 m² of green roofs contribute to a significantly increased biodiversity and slow down the runoff of rainwater. This significantly reduces pressure on the domestic sewer system during heavy rainfalls.
As early as 2007 we installed what was then the largest photovoltaic system in our region. 600 m² in size and 75 kW strong, the plant produces enough energy to fully power our geothermal air conditioning system. This saves up to 50,000 kg of CO₂ every year.

Fresh Air

Since 2010, the company’s entire heating and cooling has been provided by a geothermal system. Together with the effective use of our machine waste heat, we are basically completely independent from any gas usage.

The total CO₂ saved by the plant amounts to more than 200,000 kg per year.
Consistent recycling in all departments and the replacement of environmentally harmful substances in production are a matter of course. Two examples, but only at the beginning of the list: Every year, we recycle about 1,500 tonnes of chips and 100,000 coffee cups.

Young Trees

A small deciduous forest has been part of our company premises since 2018. A total of 60 trees were planted in an area right next to our parking lot.
By planting flowers, grasses and ferns on the outside walls of our high-rack warehouse in 2019, we have created a 500 m² vertical garden. Through this regionally unprecedented project, our company premises have once again become home to countless important insects.

E-Mobility

In 2021, we installed our first public charging station for electric cars to support e-mobility in our region. The charging station is accessible for everyone 24/7.
A quarter million bees found a home on our company premises in 2024. From there, they fly to our green roofs and the high rack warehouse, as well as surrounding meadows, fields and forests. The collected nectar and pollen are needed for the honey production. Through their work, the roughly 250,000 bees significantly contribute to the preservation and spread of countless fruits, vegetables and flowers. This in turn has a major impact on improving biodiversity. The total amount of honey produced adds up to 60 kg every year.

Beekeeper and Neuenrade resident Louis Andree takes care of the hives and harvests and processes the honey.
